Job Title: Cybersecurity Analyst
Location: Manchester, Onsite
Department: Information Security
Reports To: Security Manager/Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Job Summary: Are you passionate about safeguarding digital landscapes and combatting cyber threats? Join our dynamic team as a Cybersecurity Analyst, where you'll play a pivotal role in defending our organisation against evolving cyber threats. You'll leverage cutting-edge security technologies and methodologies to detect, analyse, and respond to security incidents, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of our data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Threat Hunting & Detection:

    • Continuously monitor and analyse security alerts and logs using advanced SIEM, IDS/IPS, and Firewall systems.
    • Conduct proactive threat hunting to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities before they are exploited.
  • Incident Response & Forensics:

    • Lead the investigation and remediation of security incidents, including malware outbreaks, phishing attacks, and network intrusions.
    • Perform detailed forensic analysis to determine the root cause and impact of security incidents.
  • Security Assessments & Hardening:

    • Execute regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and address security weaknesses.
    • Implement and manage security controls to harden systems against attacks.
  • Policy Development & Compliance:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (eg, GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
  • Security Awareness & Training:

    • Educate and empower employees with security awareness training to foster a culture of security vigilance.
    • Provide expert guidance on cybersecurity best practices to various departments.
    • Stay current with the evolving threat landscape.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

    • Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threat landscapes, and emerging technologies.
    • Recommend and implement innovative security solutions to enhance our security posture.
    • Develop and refine incident playbooks and runbooks.
  • Certifications (preferred):

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
    • GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
    • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)

Requirements:

    • Proven experience in a cybersecurity role, preferably in a large organisation.
    • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and technologies.
    • Deep understanding of threat actor tactics, including phishing, port scanning, web application attacks, DDoS, and lateral movement.
    • Solid grasp of network fundamentals (OSI Stack, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP(S), SMTP).
    • Experience with security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Experience with cloud security and DevSecOps practices is a plus.
    • SIEM tools
