As a Senior Software Engineer on the Restaurant Systems team within Dine Brands, you will create new, and integrate existing, software solutions with the point-of-sale system at our restaurants and help us move our workflows to the cloud. Your vast software engineering experience will allow you to provide direction to 1-3 other developers, helping them to improve their skills while evolving the current development process and technology stack to meet business objectives. Your communication skills will help bridge the gap between our software and the vendors, project managers, product owners, QA, and support teams to ensure what we are developing is what will meet their needs.
  • Designs, codes, tests, documents, and implements Windows applications, install packages, and microservices. 75% new development and 25% maintenance.
  • Plans the software development technology roadmap for the team and modifies the Agile methodologies we use to support it.
  • Creates installation packages and wrappers around third-party installers to be deployed to restaurant Servers in a silent, automated fashion.
  • Integrates hardware and third-party software with our point-of-sale system. This will require some hands-on system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Migrates existing workflows to AWS microservices environments.
  • Writes short scripts for Sybase, MySQL, SQL, and DynamoDB databases.
  • Performs unit and integration testing before delivering code to the QA team.
  • Works closely with Implementation and Helpdesk Teams to transition the necessary knowledge and toolset(s) required to effectively deploy POS Back Of House solutions.
  • Provides 4th level support of escalated issues from support teams in rare cases.

  • Excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with business leaders.
  • Performs other responsibilities as needed.
    Skills & Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science.
  • 5+ years creating .NET Framework/Core applications for a Windows operating system in C#.
  • 4+ years using Agile software development methodologies.
  • 3+ years building and consuming web services.
  • 2+ years writing database queries for Sybase, MySQL, SQL, and/or DynamoDB.
  • 2+ years in System Administration and/or creating application installation packages.
  • 1+ years creating workflows in AWS using technologies such as API Gateway, Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience in the Hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge & Understanding of Payment Systems/PCI DSS
  • Integration of point-of-sale systems, especially Oracles Micros RES.
  • Web development in .NET and JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Creating deployment packages for Ivanti/LANDesk.
  • Issue-tracking and documentation with Jira (SCRUM & Kanban Frameworks) and Confluence.
  • Network troubleshooting and Firewall configuration.
  • Windows operating system configuration.
