Summary of Responsibilities
Provide insurance expertise to internal stakeholders as required on day-to-day matters including but not limited to contract review and advice, identification and evaluation of risk exposures and insurance recommendations;
Play a key role in the annual renewal process through participation in renewal strategy sessions, compilation of the underwriting information package and marketing trip presentation and negotiation of renewal terms with insurance brokers;
Procurement of appropriate construction insurance for capital projects, evaluating new risk exposures the project may present;
Coordinate Risk Control visits to assets, ensuring risk recommendations are executed in a timely fashion;
Manage the claims process from initial stages to completion, working with internal stakeholders, adjusters and forensic accountants to maximize receipt of recoveries; and
Complete financial activities including but not limited to, processing invoices, providing premium allocation to business units and assisting with the annual budgeting and forecasting process.


Related post-secondary education and a minimum of 5 years of experience within a relevant insurance, brokerage or risk management environment; or a combination of formal education and experience;
Completion or working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and/or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation an asset;
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);
Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills with an attention to detail that supports strategic thinking;
Proven relationship builder that continually focuses on maintaining and developing both internal and external relationships; and
Ability to work independently on a variety of simultaneous tasks and effectively operate within a fast-paced environment.
